We wake up and deal with a lot of MD house stuff. John does this for nearly 2 hours at the hotel. We finally pack up and leave. We drive until Fresno, CA where we spend hours at a FedEx printing, signing and sending documents regarding the house.
While we were at FedEx, I called my family and basically said goodbye to them for the next 3 weeks because we would be getting into Yosemite that night and starting the trail the next day. I'm not going to lie, I got a little choked up. It's weird knowing that you're not going to be able to speak to anyone (other than John and those we meet on the trail) for the next 3 weeks. No interaction with the outside world. Which is another reason why we had to spend such a long time at FedEx, everything needed to be settled before we were unreachable for 3 weeks.
We finally left FedEx and drove to Yosemite National Park. It is such a beautiful park to drive into, so woodsy and feels much more like the parks we've been to out east (except for all the "watch our for bears!" signs). We arrive a little before 8:00 p.m. We ask around for directions to the backpacker's camp, which was really difficult to find. We arrive at the campsite around 9 and are in our sleeping bags before 10. Such an exhausting and drawn out day.
Tomorrow we start the John Muir Trail! I say that with equal parts excitement and nervousness.
